Pair arrested in looting of old Entergy power plant near river
Bit by bit and year by year, the thievery has sucked a few million dollars of value out of the paraphernalia, according to its owners.
"They've made a career out of stripping our edifice," said Michael Ullian, venture manager for the Market Street Properties LLC, which bought the 500,000-solid-foot former Entergy power shop the year after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.
But a up to date pair of arrests by the New Orleans Protect Department have made the group of investors more bullish about the city's grip on crime.
On Friday, NOPD's news unit booked 24-year-old Brandon Burns of New Orleans and Demetrick Carter, 36, of Metairie with multiple counts of burglary and medicate violations in connection with the long-word looting of the old power plant.
"This apprehension was a result of a long-term review into identifying local and out-of-town graffiti taggers, who have caused hurt to the interior of the property," NOPD spokesman Janssen Valencia said in a declaration released late Friday.
