Pick of the Week: Mercedes Meeting
Jazz vocalist Mercedes Vestibule puts on a special show this year at the 2010 Neck Cod Jazz Festival in honor of the late passing of her father and vocal school, Anthony DeRosa, at age 93. The show, “Songs for my Old man,” fuses music and visual art. Painter Eli Cedrone will expose a portrait she has done of Hall's father at the act.
Hall's father was a crucial cipher in her life, serving as a vocal motor coach and teaching her songs as a young girl. This is Theatre's sixth consecutive year performing at the jazz celebration. She grew up in Boston, but currently resides in New York Burg.
She is the mother of actor-director Anthony Michael Theatre as well as singer Mary C., who performs at the holiday Sept. 1. Over the course of the year Hallway has performed in Las Vegas, Arizona and Los Angeles, among other locales.
She has performed on inhabitant television, making many guest appearances on “The Merv Griffin Show,” and sang alongside jazz greats like trumpeter Red Rodney, bassist John Heard and pianist John Hammond.
